Purple builds indoor location services used by spaces around the world. Kerry spent two years as Purple's full time in house coach, working across the whole organisation: team and group facilitation at company all hands, large group learning and development, and one to one coaching for individuals.

From in house to external partner

When Kerry left to set up her own coaching business, the relationship continued. She has stayed on as an external resource ever since, still supporting Purple with all hands sessions, team coaching and one to one work, for more than five years in total.

From sceptic to convert

Not everyone was sold at the start. Pete Lee, then Chief Operating Officer, describes himself as naturally rational and questioning, and was not convinced a full time coach could add value in a business of Purple's size. Over a year of coaching that changed. He calls himself a complete coaching convert, says it helped him find better balance and achieve his goals, and now recommends it to any business considering bringing coaching in.

What changed across the business

The work reached people in roles from VP Customer Support to Sales Operations and partner facing teams, in the UK and across the US. People reported more confidence, sharper focus, clearer feedback to peers and managers, and better balance between work and home. CEO Gavin Wheeldon described the feedback from coaching across the business, and for Kerry as an individual, as spectacular: people became more effective in their roles and improved their personal lives too.
