What changes

What this work makes possible

Clearer thinking under pressure

Space to step back from the noise, see the real decision in front of you, and act on it with conviction rather than second guessing yourself.

Presence that lands in the room

Lead in a way that feels like you, not a borrowed style. Hold difficult conversations, set direction, and be heard without forcing it.

A team that runs without you

Build the trust and the conditions that let people own their work, so you stop being the bottleneck and start leading the bigger picture.

Manchester is a city of builders. From the tech and digital firms around the Northern Quarter and MediaCity to the manufacturers, professional services and scale-ups spread across Greater Manchester and the North West, this is a region full of leaders carrying real weight. The pace is fast, the ambition is genuine, and the pressure on the people at the top is often invisible to everyone around them. Executive coaching exists to give those leaders somewhere to think.

I am Kerry Sutcliffe, an executive and leadership coach based in Manchester. I work with senior leaders, founders and boards who want to lead with more clarity and less strain. Most of that work happens online, which means I support clients across the North West, the rest of the UK and worldwide. When it helps, and when you are within reach of Manchester, we can also meet in person by arrangement. There is no fixed office to commute to and no formula about where the work has to take place. We choose what serves the coaching best.

Coaching from someone who has done the job

I spent more than thirty years in commercial business before I coached anyone full time. I started as an employee, became a manager, then an executive, then a board director, and later a non-executive director. I know what it is to be accountable for numbers you cannot fully control, to manage people through change, and to make calls when the information is incomplete and the stakes are high. When you describe what you are facing, you will not have to explain the basics of corporate life. I have lived them.

That commercial grounding sits alongside serious coaching training. I hold the ICF PCC credential, the CPCC qualification through the Co-Active Training Institute, and ORSC training through CRR Global for working with teams and relationship systems. I am also accredited in Everything DiSC. Across my practice I have completed more than 2,000 hours of coaching and over 400 hours of training delivery. The combination matters: business experience keeps the conversation real, and the coaching discipline keeps it focused on you rather than on my opinions.

What we actually work on

Every engagement is different, because every leader arrives with a different knot to untangle. Some of the most common themes are the move from doing the work to leading the people who do it, finding a leadership voice that feels authentic, handling the self-doubt that often grows alongside seniority, and building teams that no longer need the founder in every decision. Often the presenting issue is practical, a difficult relationship or a stalled strategy, and underneath it is something more personal about how you see yourself and what you believe you are allowed to do.

We work at both levels. The sessions are direct and warm. I will ask the questions that get to the heart of it, reflect back what I am noticing, and hold you to the commitments you make. You leave with clearer thinking, not a folder of theory. The aim is always change you can feel in how you lead the following week, not just insight you nod along to in the room.

In person around Manchester, or online wherever you are

Being honest about format matters, because plenty of coaching marketing implies a city-centre suite that does not exist. The truth is that most of my coaching happens online, by video, and it works extremely well. Leaders are busy, diaries are unforgiving, and online removes the travel and the lost hours. It also means distance is no barrier, so a leader in central Manchester and a leader in another country get the same quality of attention.

That said, some people think better away from a screen, and there are moments in a coaching relationship where being in the same room adds something real. If you are in or around Manchester, we can arrange to meet in person for some of our sessions. We will agree a place that works, whether that is near you, near the city centre, or somewhere quiet enough to talk properly. It is by arrangement rather than a standing booking, which keeps things flexible for both of us.

Who I have worked with

My clients have come from organisations including Netflix, Purple, Propellernet, Voicescape, Cisco and Searchland, across technology, media, professional services and scaling businesses, many of which have a strong footprint in the North West. They are leaders who could clearly already do their jobs, and who chose coaching because doing the job well is not the same as feeling clear, sustainable and genuinely in command of it.

Start with a conversation

The best way to know whether this is right for you is to talk. I offer a free thirty-minute discovery call. We will talk about what is going on, what you want to change, and whether I am the right person to help. If I am not, I will say so. If we are a fit, we will agree how we work, including whether you would like to build in some in-person sessions around Manchester alongside the online work.

The leaders I work with rarely lack ability. What they want is somewhere to think clearly, and someone who has stood where they stand.

Is this for you?

  • You are a senior leader or founder in Greater Manchester or the wider North West, navigating a step up, a turnaround, or relentless growth.
  • You are doing well on paper but feel stretched thin, and the old way of pushing through is no longer working.
  • You want a coach who has actually sat in the chair, not someone reading from a model.
  • You would value meeting in person near Manchester some of the time, with the flexibility of online when diaries are tight.
  • You are ready to be honest about what is not working, and to do something about it.

When I first came to you I was feeling a bit stuck and unsure of my next steps. It was important to me to work with someone I liked. I could really feel that your optimism for me was genuine. Within one month I had a new job! I had taken control, it was hard, but it was also fun. It has helped me reframe things, see new perspectives, focus on new behaviours, and feel positive about myself. It felt really therapeutic, having the space to explore everything in a safe way.

Questions

Good things to know

Yes. Most of my coaching, whether one-to-one or with a leadership team, is online, but if you are in or around Manchester we can arrange to meet in person for some or all of our sessions. It is by arrangement rather than at a fixed office, so we agree a place and a rhythm that suits you. Many clients use a mix of in-person and online to fit around busy diaries.
